I know one of the hardest things psychologically for me is my anger at Merck for selling a drug without warning of the chance of permanent damage. Knowing that Propecia has caused so much pain to so many man - and yet reading articles like the one posted in the Canadian newspaper a few days ago where Merck claims no responsibility make my blood boil. By continuing to deny us - Merck is not only responsible for all the sick men in the world - but they are also responsible for preventing any real chance at a cure. Well - this morning I got a link to a TED talk about a man that was a paralyzed in a car accident at the age of 19. He talks about seeking out forgiveness - learning to accept his fate and wanting to hear two words from the man that did this to him. I'm sorry. I know we are all hurting from this - but I do think there is a good chance a cure, or a least a treatment will be found. Hang in there - I am in a much better place mentally than I was 6 months ago - and time, rest and clean living should and will bring some recovery to all of us. Here is the link to the TED talk - I would urge you to watch it - it will resonate with you - I know it did for me.

Thanks for sharing this video. I also struggle with the reality that we have to live in a world where we have been intentionally wronged by an entity that refuses to accept responsibility solely for the pursuit of profits. If Merck were to accept responsibility and issue a public apology it would be easier to accept this disaster result of simply bad luck, it can happen to anybody who is in the wrong place at the wrong time. But unfortunately, this will most likely never happen and the reality is they will be willing to fight by any means to try to secure their innocence and in my opinion it is simply evil.

Josh does a great job of using his catastrophe to enable him to see the relative blessings he has been given in life. He is certainly an excellent role model whom we should all strive to imitate, but I am not sure I will be able to achieve this mind set for many years.

By the way, I also suggest that any fellow PFS patient make time for to watch this video as it will show you how an example man struggling with a similar adversity to ourselves has learned to cope with his reality in a healthy way.

thank you for sharing. amazing quote the speaker uses:

“truly to enjoy bodily warmth, some small part of you must be cold, for there is no quality in this world that is not what it is merely by contrast. Nothing exists in itself. If you flatter yourself that you are all over comfortable, and have been so a long time, then you cannot be said to be comfortable any more.”
