What help's your brain fog men? Please list anything (even the absurd or mundane) that helps you cope with this terrible life changing condition. Thanks.

Concerning myself and condition, this has helped me:

- Fasting or having an empty stomach. Eating very little on any given day. (This works the best for me)
- Drinking Red Wine (on one occasion I thought I was healed after a couple glasses! Has not happened since)
- High grade Fish Oil / Norwegian Salmon Oil
- Sushi
- After eating a fast food hamburger at Wendy's! Not a joke. Only happened on a couple of occasion's and that's it.
- Meditation
- Listening to the natural sounds of Running Water or near a stream.
- Soothing music.

autohemotherapy....and a hand full os supplements that i can give you the list...since im in brazil its hard for me to get them..but i´ve managed to do it fairly easily with the help of my friends.
its been 4 months. i am 100 % mentally stable and sane. i must say its so good to feel normal again...

Coconut oil. 3 tablespoons a day and it wipes out brain fog 100% very quickly

Time has been the biggest healer for clearing up the mental side effects. My guess is due to slow neuron regrowth in the central nervous system, to repair or circumvent the damage that occured during loss of neurosteroid metabolism while on Finasteride (ie, decreased allopregnanolone, decreased neurogenesis).

Agreed - time.

At it's worst it was like watching myself in a film. It comes and goes now but not as bad.

I have a hundred more symptoms though.

Excercise, and plenty of it.

Mew, or anyone else... I suppose this could maybe be considered a more personal question than anything regarding sexual dysfunction, but regarding mental health... do you feel like emotions have come back to you in any fashion over time? It has been a little over a year off of the drug for me, and it has been an insane roller coaster ride in terms of my emotions. I, like so many others, feel that this is the most detrimental side effect of this drug, above anything else. Although I suppose it's directly tied to low libido when nothing seems to excite you, period. It's just disgusting to me how detached from reality I can feel on certain days, and maybe a few days later I find myself able to laugh and converse with people with a fair amount of normalcy. To what degree are the chemical reactions within the brain during orgasm culprits of these feelings? Anyone?

My guess: a lot

But no one knows for sure. We have got to be a researcher's dream come true, given our long and bizarre list of symtoms.

Do you feel better the longer you abstain?

A complete lifestyle change centered around a low stress lifestyle.

Not easy, but almost necessary for myself, as I've noticed, that stress increases the fog tremendously.
I cannot tolerate much of any stress, as the fog gets super scarier.
I also recommend foods that are best for anti-stress, or a diet meant to manage stress.

I think the central nervous system is very much damaged and affected.
I see it as the shield which has hole's in it, due to prop usage and you need to keep things steady, and as stress free as possible. Before propecia, I was a lot more laid back, and could easily fend off much bullshit or general stress, but not anymore.

I also recommend 'psychological symbolism' and a positive belief system around what your experiencing. As, I know this condition can be downright terrifying and scary as fuck!

But, realize this, that it is just an artificial blanket or cloud over your brain's. It is not killing you or any stronger than you and your ability to heal! You are stronger than the condition. Now, visualize yourself getting ready to board a plane in crappy, dreary, raining gloomy weather. As soon as your plane rises above the clouds, you see beautiful sunshine. The sunshine is always there, or your true healthy self! The cloud's and dreary weather represent brain fog. Don't let propecia and pfs disorder trick you. Rise above the cloud's and the sunshine is always there. Guaranteed.
Stay positive always, even if it feels artificial and fake or nothing at all.

Bad hangover's, from too much drinking, to the point of puking the night before, seem's to alter the brain fog.

Not kidding. I almost feel as if I'm more like my old healthy self during or just after a hangover.
But, then it's back to pfs brain fog rob, and walking around like i've died and become a walking ghost...haunting the world.

Robertino, what have you done to treat your brainfog? Also, have you had any blood tests done? Anything abnormal revealed?

Nothing friend. Just 'basic' blood work, and very basic hormone panel done at the local veteran's hospital and m.r.i.
Whatever they checked, they said was normal, but asking them to do any more for you is impossible, as they don't believe you, and think your depressed or weird, and pass you along to the anti-depressant station.
I've given up on them and just trying to hang in there...

I can't afford any of these 'so called' propecia doctors on here, and I am just barely hanging on and struggling in life thanks to propecia. Just being hhonets. I'm also very very very poor thanks to propecia, and it's awful, scary mental side effect's it's left me with. I can't really do anything that merit's a decent paycheck anymore, because my brain is tweeked - also, thanks to propecia and merck. My family and friends have also basically disowned me, and distanced themselves from me because of all this.

Rejected by my own family...I also had to suffer with this watching my mother die an excrucuting painfyul death, due to cancer. I am destroyed, very traumatized, and feel at times hopeless, but I carry on...
Just trying to live as clean and stress free as possible. Not easy to be us and it's a nightmare.

Robert, do you have cold hands or feet and/or insomnia? I am growing more convinced that the mental side effects are due to the thyroid/adrenal issues (obviously just other symptoms, but better to treat these than do nothing). I have terrible brain fog as well as all the other wonderful side effects people on this site have. I will begin treatment for my thyroid within a couple weeks, and I will let you know if it fixes me mentally.
