I have recently had intermittent burning while I pee (within the past 2 weeks), and just last night started to pee blood. I assume this is a urinary tract infection. Is this a common symptom? I assume the doctors will give me antibiotics, is this safe for me to take?

Get an STD test, could be completely unrelated.

I was prescribed Ciprofloxacin, and after googling the side effects, I will not be taking it. I plan on returning to the doctor tomorrow to get a much less dangerous antibiotic... probably amoxicillin.

Hematuria is a serious sign. I'm assuming they've done imaging and ruled out more sinister causes. Anyway don't delay.

Actually, no. They took a urine sample and got an inconclusive culture for bacteria, gave me this prescription and sent me home. I am so fed up with doctors. I have never met a more useless bunch of twats in all my life.

I have read reports of at least one other person having the same problem on this forum... this is another clue in the puzzle of PFS....

I had a scope stuck up my wee hole by my urologist, and he found nothing abnormal. I will be getting a CT scan done soon. Another bacterial culture came back negative, so it's not bacterial (or not a bacteria that will grow in standard culture).

I hope the CT scan reveals something. Considering the random painful spasms I have had near my prostate region for over a year, I believe there is definitely something up down there.

I recall seeing numerous posts on hairlosstalk forum from guys complaining of this after starting finasteride.

This can just happen sometimes due to bacteria or whatever. A family member and a friend told me that it has happened to them.

I recently had a CT scan done to determine the source of bleeding while urinating I experienced about 2 weeks ago. The exact source of bleeding is still unknown (no infection, no kidney stones, no bladder/urethra problems, no STDs, etc), but what did show up on the CT scan was about 5 large spots of calcification in the prostate. I have not spoken with my urologist yet, but does anyone else have these? Is there an effective treatment to get rid of them?

I believe this is likely the source of pain I have had since quitting fin, and I think it could be the source of blood as well. Any comments?
